Hello friends, if you have ever looked at an alcoholic drink and wondered, “How many calories am I actually getting from the alcohol? I made this tool to make that question much easier to answer.
With our Alcohol Calorie Calculator, you do not need to sit down with a calculator and work through the numbers yourself. Just enter your drink volume, ABV, and number of drinks, and the tool will do the math for you.
So, come with me and let me show you exactly how this calculator works, what each result means, and how you can get the most useful result from it.
Let us start with the simple part.
An alcohol calories calculator estimates how much pure alcohol is in your drink and how many calories come from that alcohol.
To do this, our calculator needs only three things from you:
After you click Calculate, the tool gives you three results.
For example, if you enter 100 ml, 10% ABV, and 1 drink, the calculator gives about 7.9 g of pure alcohol and 55 kcal.
That is the basic idea. You give the tool the drink details, and it handles the calculation for you.
Now that you know what the results mean, let us use the calculator together:
Step 1: Enter the Drink Volume
Look for the Drink Volume (ml) box. Enter the amount of your drink in milliliters. For example, if you want to check 100 ml, enter 100. Make sure you enter the amount you actually want to calculate.
Step 2: Enter the ABV
Next, find the ABV (% box). ABV means Alcohol by Volume. You can normally find this percentage on the drink label. If the label says 10% ABV, enter 10. Be careful here. If the drink is 5% ABV, enter 5, not 50.
Step 3: Enter the Number of Drinks
Now tell the calculator how many drinks you want to include. For one drink, enter 1. If you want to calculate three of the same drinks, enter 3.
Step 4: Click Calculate
Everything ready? Click Calculate. You do not need to do any extra math. The calculator will work out the results for you.
Step 5: Read Your Results
You will now see:
For example, if you entered one drink, your calories per drink and total calories will be the same.
Step 6: Want to Check Another Drink?
No problem. Click Reset, enter the new drink details, and calculate again. You can repeat this whenever you want to check another drink.
If you want to add this calculator to your own website, I’ll show you how to do it. It only takes a few simple steps:
That’s all you need to do. The calculator is now ready for your visitors to use.
Now that you know how the calculator works, let’s take a quick look at the features I included to make things easier for you:
This calculator is useful for anyone who wants to check the estimated alcohol calories in a drink. You can use it in different situations, such as:
Now, if you ever wonder why one drink gives a different result from another, there are a few simple reasons:
So, if a drink contains sugar, juice, soft drinks, cream, or another mixer, those ingredients may add extra calories.
Now, guys, here are a few simple tips from me to help you enter the details correctly and get a better calculation:
So friends, if something looks confusing while using the calculator, don't worry. Here are a few common issues and simple ways to fix them:
If you want to check the result yourself, you can calculate calories in alcohol with a simple formula. You only need the drink volume and ABV.
Step 1: Find the pure alcohol.
Pure Alcohol (g) = Drink Volume (ml) × (ABV ÷ 100) × 0.789
For example, if your drink is 250 ml and has 5% ABV:
250 × (5 ÷ 100) × 0.789 = 9.86 g
So, the drink contains about 9.9 g of pure alcohol.
Step 2: Calculate the alcohol calories.
Alcohol provides about 7 calories per gram.
Calories = Pure Alcohol (g) × 7
9.86 × 7 = 69.04 kcal
So, the drink has about 69 calories from alcohol.
Step 3: Calculate total calories.
If you had more than one drink with the same volume and ABV:
Total Calories = Calories per Drink × Number of Drinks
For example, 2 drinks would be:
69 × 2 = 138 kcal
This gives you a simple estimate of the calories coming from alcohol itself. Mixer and other ingredient calories are not included.
In this guide, I have walked you through our Alcohol Calorie Calculator from the first input to the final result. You now know what to enter, what pure alcohol is, what calories per drink and total calories mean, and how the calculation works behind the scenes. I hope this guide makes the tool easier for you to use with confidence.
My personal recommendation: Take a moment to check the number of drinks before you calculate. When you enter the correct amount along with the volume and ABV, the calculator can give you a clearer estimate of the total alcohol calories.

I know you may still have a few questions about how to calculate alcohol calories. So, I’ve answered some of the most common ones below to help you use the tool with ease:
An alcoholic drink calorie calculator estimates how many calories come from the alcohol in a drink. It uses the drink volume, alcohol percentage (ABV), and number of drinks to give you the estimated pure alcohol and calorie amount.
Enter the drink volume in milliliters, the ABV percentage, and the number of drinks. Then click Calculate. The tool estimates the pure alcohol in grams, calories per drink, and total calories.
ABV means Alcohol by Volume. It tells you how much of a drink is pure alcohol as a percentage.
You can usually find the ABV on the bottle, can, or product label. For example, a drink marked 5% ABV contains 5% alcohol by volume.
You can use the calculator instead of doing the math yourself. Just enter:
No. The calculator estimates calories from alcohol itself. It does not include calories from juice, soda, syrups, cream, or other mixers.
If you want to estimate the calories in the full drink, you will need to check the calories of those extra ingredients separately.
The calorie amount depends on the volume of the drink. A larger drink with the same 5% ABV will contain more alcohol and therefore more alcohol calories.
For example, the calculator estimates about 69 kcal from alcohol in a 250 ml drink at 5% ABV.
Yes. You can use it for beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, and other alcoholic drinks as long as you know their volume and ABV.
The calculation is based on the amount of pure alcohol, so the drink type itself does not change the basic calculation.
Yes. Enter the number of drinks in the Number of Drinks field. The calculator uses the same volume and ABV for each drink and gives you the estimated total calories.
If the drinks have different sizes or ABV levels, calculate them separately for a better estimate.
The result is an estimate, not an exact measurement. It is based on the volume and ABV you enter and uses an approximate energy value for alcohol.
For a better estimate:
A higher result can be caused by a larger drink size, higher ABV, or more drinks being entered.
Check these three fields:
Correct any wrong value and calculate again.
Yes, the calculator is simply a tool for estimating the calories and amount of alcohol based on the information you enter. It does not provide medical advice or tell you how much alcohol you should drink.
Use the result as general information when tracking or understanding alcohol calories.
Yes. You can use the estimated total calories as part of your daily food and drink record.
If you have different drinks during the day, calculate each one based on its own volume and ABV, then use the results together when keeping your daily record.
